Welcome to Salehurst and Robertsbridge

A warm welcome to the Salehurst & Robertsbridge Parish Council website.

We are a larger parish in rural East Sussex, midway between Tunbridge Wells and Hastings. Robertsbridge, including the small hamlet of Salehurst, is located in the High Weald Landscape, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South East England. We are home to around 3000 people with a busy social calendar for all ages and a direct rail link to London. All our Councillors are volunteers who work on your behalf to improve the village. We hope you find our website useful, please subscribe for regular updates, and contact us if you have any feedback or questions.

Our parish is in two parts. Salehurst is where it all started. This is home to our 12th parish church, one of our three pubs and ruins of our Cistercian abbey. It is the smaller settlement separated from Robertsbridge by the A21, the main trunk road between London and Hastings. Robertsbridge is the larger settlement which developed after the Cistercian monks built a bridge over the River Rother. Robertsbridge has two more pubs, our beautiful timber-framed High Street, shops, railway station, primary and secondary school and homes for the majority of our residents. For more information on our village see the About Robertsbridge website.
