Footpaths
We are fortunate to be located within the High Weald National Landscape, an area of outstanding natural beauty in South East England. The area has an abundance of footpaths and most residents have a choice of country walks direct from their doorstep. The 1066 Country Walk and Sussex Border Path are a short drive from the village.
David Allen has produced ‘Walks in Salehurst and Robertsbridge’ which he has kindly given permission for us to provide here.
Walks can also be found on 123 Walks for short walks and High Weald National Landscape for walks of varied lengths. The High Weald National Landscape also runs an annual walking festival each September.
If you find a problem with a path either report it to the Clerk or directly at the Report a problem with a right of way page on the East Success County Council website. Better still you can join our Robertsbridge Footpath Group to help maintain the local paths, report any issues and encourage their use by walking groups, dog walkers and individuals. Contact Councillor Simon Longhurst for more information.
To keep the area lovely for everyone (including children and other dogs) please clean up after your dog (The Public Spaces Protection Order (No.1B) (Rother District Council) Order 2024). You must clean up after your dog in all publicly owned open spaces and highways except woodlands, marsh and agricultural land. Please read the Public Spaces Protection Order (No 1) (pdf) for details. Dog owners who fail to comply can be prosecuted (maximum fine £2500) or issued with a fixed penalty notice of £100.
Dog waste can be disposed of in dog bins, street litter bins and at home in your black household waste bin.
