Consultation on Rother Local Plan 2025-2042
Rother District Council is preparing a new Local Plan. The Local Plan is the blueprint for how Rother could develop and change up to 2042. It sets out where new homes, jobs, facilities and infrastructure may be located, while protecting the district’s valued landscapes, heritage and character. Following two earlier periods of public consultation in 2024 and early 2026, we are now at the formal Regulation 19 publication stage, which is open from Monday 12th October 2026 until 23:59 on Tuesday 24th November 2026. People from Rother People in Rotherr are being urged to take part in a consultation that will help shape the future of the district up to 2042. The Plan and supporting evidence base, including the Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessment, can be viewed online at www.rother.gov.uk/draftlocalplan2026, and at the Rother District Council offices at the Town Hall, London Road, Bexhill-on-Sea. Hard copies of the Plan will also be available for public inspection at the libraries in Bexhill, Battle, Rye, Wadhurst and Northiam during their opening hours. Representations should be made online using our consultation portal at www.rother.gov.uk/draftlocalplan2026. If you are unable to use the consultation portal, representations can be submitted using the response form, available on the Council’s website, and sent by email to draftlocalplan@rother.gov.uk, or by post to the Planning Policy Team, Rother District Council, Town Hall, Bexhill-on-Sea, TN39 3JX. Paper copies of the Response Form and the Statement of Representations Procedure will also be available from the Council Offices at Bexhill Town Hall and the libraries listed above.
