REMEMBRANCE IN ROBERTSBRIDGE 2025

Remembrance Sunday – 9th November 2025
Main Commemoration Event (Parade, Church Service at St Mary’s Salehurst, Wreath Laying Ceremony at High Street War Memorial)
Everyone is welcome to all or any part of the event.
10:00 – 10:20 Parade participants assemble at The Clappers Recreation Ground
10:25 Chairman Robertsbridge Poppy Appeal organises form up of the Parade on The Clappers, which then sets off to Salehurst Church (rolling road closures cover Northbridge Street and Church Lane, re-opening when the Parade has passed; traffic lights allow parade to cross the A21)
10:40 Parade arrives at Church – Standards and Wreath Bearers line up at the entrance.
10:50 Service begins (Vicar leads) – to include blessing of wreaths and 2-minute silence at 11am
11:30 (ish) Service ends and parade forms up outside Church and sets off to the Village War Memorial in the High Street. Rolling road closures cover Church Lane and Northbridge Street, and the High Street to Salehurst Primary School (traffic lights allow parade to cross the A21)
12:00 – 12:10 (ish) Parade arrives at Village War Memorial and Standards, Wreath layers and Groups assemble in position. High Street from south of Station Road to Salehurst Primary School remains closed, the rest reopens.
12:20 (ish) Once ready, Act of Remembrance begins with opening words followed by the Exhortation, Last Post. A maroon marks the start and end of a 2-minute silence, followed by Reveille, Kohima Prayer, laying of wreaths and final blessing by the Vicar.
12:45 (ish) Chairman of Robertsbridge Poppy Appeal announces total money raised by Poppy Appeal last year, and awards the Hayward Trophy for most money raised by a village organisation / group.
12:50 (ish) Parade is dismissed and falls out. High Street is reopened to traffic as soon as the road is clear.
Road Closures – a rolling road closure (closed only when/where necessary) will cover The Clappers, Northbridge Street and Church Lane 10:25 – 11:00 for the Parade to the Church. Then 11:40 – 13:00 for the Parade back to the village, and the Wreath Laying at the War Memorial. However, once the Parade has passed Station Road on the return journey, the High Street will only be closed between south of Station Road and Salehurst Primary School. So traffic will be able to use Station Road, lower High Street, Northbridge Street etc. whilst the Ceremony takes place at the War Memorial (approximately 12:10 – 12:50).
Armistice Day – Tuesday 11th November 2025 (Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month)
Short Wreath Laying Event (at High Street War Memorial ) led by Robertsbridge Royal British Legion
10:45 Assemble at the War Memorial
10:56 Opening Words
10:59 Exhortation
11:00 2 minute silence (Maroon by Robertsbridge Bonfire Society marks the start and end of the silence)
11:02 Reveille, Kohima Prayer, laying of wreaths
11:20(ish) Parade is dismissed and falls out. High Street is reopened to traffic as soon as the road is clear.
Road closure – covering the High Street between just South of the junction with Station Road to the entrance to Salehurst Primary School (George Hill), from approximately 10:45 to 11:20
